Metabolic surgery can result in long term remission or resolution of type 2 diabetes in significant number of individuals. Weight loss and resolution of type II diabetes after bariatric/ metabolic surgeries are mainly due to hormonal changes. Role of food restriction or malabsorption is secondary.
